A new update is headed to Super Mario Run on September 29, adding loads of new content to Nintendo’s mobile platformer, including a new world, new mode and new playable character.
According to the update’s App Store preview (which is only viewable on iOS), Princess Daisy will join the game with a special double jump ability, providing new ways to play against others in Toad Rally, as well as new ways to collect the elusive coins in each stage.
In order to unlock Daisy, players will need to rescue her in a new mode called Remix 10. This “frenetic” mode tasks players with completing “10 bite-sized sections” from pre-existing Super Mario Run levels in rapid succession. Each stage will have rainbow-colored medals for players to collect, and by finishing the stages and collecting the medals, players will be rewarded with new items to deck out their Mushroom Kingdom, as well as the opportunity to rescue and unlock Daisy.
Additionally, the update will add a new world that contains nine new levels and features new enemies, more pink, purple and black coins to find, and new gameplay mechanics to check out. In order to unlock the new world, players will have to complete all of the stages in World 1 through World 6.
As a fun little bonus, Mario and his pals will wear headphones when the game is being played with music in the background. Additionally, the in-app purchase for Super Mario Run will be available at a 50 percent discount for the first two weeks of the update’s release.
While this update will be Super Mario Run’s biggest yet, it’s not the app’s first. In April, Nintendo celebrated the release Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by adding Mario Kart-themed content to the game, and several months prior, an Easy Mode was added.
Details about the update are currently only listed on Apple’s App Store. There has not yet been any word on the update coming to Android as well.
